The Need
•In Massachusetts, 17,000+ youths per year contact some component of juvenile corrections.
•Annual cost per youth incarcerated in residential treatment is generally in the range of $50,000 to $100,000.
•Nationwide 1 in 100 persons spends some part of his/her life incarcerated.
•While school drop-out may solve the disruption within a school system, it increases the likelihood of delinquent and criminal involvement.
